Does your company want to be recognized as exemplary in social and environmental matters?With ShiftingPact®, the label for transitioning SMEs, you can have your company’s exemplary status recognized within the framework of the Shifting Economy plan in Brussels.This label, approved by the Brussels-Capital Region, is a recognized private scheme that notably allows Brussels companies to benefit from a double increase in the subsidies they may be entitled to.

What is the ShiftingPact® certification?
The ShiftingPact® certification assesses the maturity of your sustainability approach and certifies your social and environmental exemplarity. It is based on demanding and recognized standards: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESG frameworks (VSME), and UNEP FI. It covers four key dimensions:
- your internal ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices,
- the contribution of your business model to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
- the identification and mitigation of your potential negative impacts,
- a commitment pact composed of the ESG practices that your SME chooses to implement.
Depending on your score, three levels of recognition are awarded: In Transition, Sustainable, or Inspiring.

When the Brussels-Capital Region decided to direct its funding towards Brussels-based companies that it considers exemplary in environmental and/or social terms, BetterBusiness seized this opportunity to have its support accredited and to assist even more SMEs in their sustainability strategy, in line with its mission (to support an inclusive, fair, and regenerative economic model within SMEs).
We therefore created this support with one goal: to demystify CSR and make it accessible and inspiring for all SMEs.
Our Methodology

2. Onboarding
Individual meeting to present the ShiftingPact® tool.
3. ESG and Impact Assessment
Analysis of your contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals and your operational practices at social, environmental, and governance levels.
4. Verification
Individual meeting to finalize the file.
5. Audit
Independent review by a third-party organization (Forum Ethibel).
6. Certification
Awarding of the excellence label, public and internal impact reports, badges, and publication.
7. Follow-up & Recertification
Support (meetings, webinars) and renewal every 2 years.
